In 2016, her work was recognized as being the best video journalism in Gannett, Inc., The Cincinnati Enquirer's parent company, which owns 109 media organizations. Along with visuals, she has also been honored for her reporting. She won three writing awards in 2016 in SPJ Ohio's annual contest, and an Ohio SPJ award for Best Use of Public Records in 2010. Cochran was asked to join the board of Associated Press Photo Managers, representing the multimedia discipline. She served a two-year term on the Board of Governors of NATAS Ohio Valley (2014-2016), which covers Ohio from Columbus to Cincinnati, parts of Indiana, all of West Virginia, and all of Kentucky. She also serves on the Cincinnati ReelAbilities Film Festival local programming board.
